“How do you cross the Connecticut River? For some Connecticut travelers, they enjoy a scenic and historic passage thanks to the Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry. Hailed as the oldest continuously operating ferry in the United States, the Ferry is used by passenger vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. Powered by a tug boat (the Cumberland), the flatboat (the Hollister III) takes vehicles three at a time on a fast, but beautiful journey at a reasonable price. The ferry was used in a few seconds of footage during the music video for Billy Joel’s 1993 “River of Dreams.” See the video below and see if you can find the ferry in the music video…great song.
